Battered woman takes on re-victimizing judge

A woman has lodged a formal complaint against the judge in her domestic assault case, after being told by the judge she should have “walked out” of an abusive relationship and never to call police again if she goes back to her ex-boyfriend.

Justice Gregory Pockele dismissed the charges of assault, uttering threats and mischief against Melodie White’s ex even though the transcript suggests he seemed to believe White was threatened and pushed down hard enough to leave large, hand-print bruises on both arms.

He told her modern women are “not weak and disadvantaged” and she should have been gone “in a flash.”

It’s the new way of isolating victims of domestic assault.

Decades ago people assumed that family problems, including spousal abuse, were private and no one's business. Now most people victim blame, focusing on why she stays rather than why he hits her.

Never mind the fact that the majority of women killed by their violent partners, are killed after they have left him.

White said she was shoved, and thrown to the ground and she hid in the bathroom from her boyfriend, who then broke down the door but because the judge heard the partners argued constantly and both had become physical he told them to “take care of you own stuff”

“Do not come back here. I am telling you right now you have to take care of your own stuff. Do not bring it into a criminal court. Do not be calling the police to mop it up.”

Let’s hope the judge gets disciplined for ruling that because times have changed victims must chose spousal abuse.

Huh? How much is Jennifer O'Meara earning for writing incoherently?

Sounds to me, Judge Pocele's decision was based on whether or not Ms.White deserved the abuse, that she must have done something to cause the ex to become angry and physically hurt
her, thus, letting the abuser go free and chastising Ms. White for
wasting his time.

Are you looking for a job Wally? Do you disagree with the contents and statements of the blog or are you just upset that no one pays you for your opinion?

I'm a consumer, Cedric. When a company manufactures and distributes a shoddy product, they are often recalled. When a paid professional produces and manufactures a shoddy product and distributes it into the public domain, I point it out. The contents of the piece in this instance doesn't deserve my invaluable opinion, because O'Meara's incoherence, as I pointed out, makes that impossible. But then again, some editors are sloppy with their oversight -- don't ya think Cedric? One incoherent sentence in a column is a human glitch, but two incoherent sentences in a column is incompetence.

I don't need a job, Cedric, but I can assure you that if I were paid to write, I would have enough pride in my work to ensure my columns pass grade 10 English standards.
